Tropicana Atlantic City makes an effort to support the arts returning to the City.
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (September 26, 2019) – Tropicana Atlantic City is a proud proponent of molding Atlantic City into a creative destination for artists and filmmakers. The casino resort is offering its support to Little Rock Films + Studios as filming for their newest project begins.
Little Rock Films + Studios, a local film and photography studio based in Ventnor, recently filmed scenes for the pilot episode of their new project, the 48 Blocks series, at Tropicana. Crew members and actors are also occupying rooms in the Chelsea Tower while they film at multiple locations across the city.
Written and directed by Stuart Connelly, and produced by Dina Engel and Sherry McCracken, the series is set in Atlantic City. Over the course of six episodes, a local reporter will work towards unearthing the ominous past of an ex-NBA player turned philanthropist and real estate mogul. As the season unfolds, real news stories that have affected Atlantic City and the local community will be portrayed through various characters and their relationships.
“Tropicana has a long-standing commitment to the arts in Atlantic City, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have yet another opportunity to show our support through Little Rock Films + Studios’ filming project,” said Jason Gregorec, General Manager of Tropicana Atlantic City.
“After seeing the positive energy that the artistic expressions of the 48 Blocks’ murals brought to the city, we felt it imperative to continue to support new forms of art both happening on our property and around the city, including the fact that Atlantic City has the potential to be a rapidly flourishing hub for film and other production.”
Tropicana Atlantic City is an annual sponsor for the Atlantic City Arts Foundation which developed programming including the 48 Blocks Art Program, ARTeriors, Chalk About AC and Mural Week. In 2018, Tropicana participated in the 48 Blocks Art Program by hosting free yoga on the beach with AtlantiCare LifeCenter instructors.
Tropicana also commissioned local artist, Susan Daly, to paint the sky ceiling in The Quarter. In addition to externally supporting local artists, Tropicana has supported employees and their artistic endeavors. Nightlife Manager, Valerie Feo, showcased her artistic abilities in Planet Rose with custom murals, hand-painted border walls and custom wallpaper creating with vintage Rolling Stone, Interview, Spin and rock and roll magazines.
