Donated funds will be used for the continuation of public art programs in Atlantic City.

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (February 4, 2020) – As a proud proponent of the arts, Tropicana Atlantic City will donate $10,000 in support of the Atlantic City Arts Foundation and its mission to foster an environment in which diverse arts and cultural programs enrich the quality of life for residents and visitors of Atlantic City. The donated funds will be used for the continuation of public art programs in the city.

“The work the Atlantic City Arts Foundation is doing has infused such positivity into the entire city, and we are incredibly proud to be a partner,” said Steve Callender, Senior Vice President of Operations – East Region, Eldorado Resorts, Inc. “We commend ACAF for their commitment to stimulating a creative culture and supporting local artists in Atlantic City and are eager to see what the future holds.”

"The Atlantic City Arts Foundation is pleased to welcome Tropicana Atlantic City as our first organizational sponsor in 2020. The team at Tropicana has set a leading example consistently supporting Atlantic City's arts initiatives and contributing to the well-being of our community," said Joyce Hagen, Executive Director of the Atlantic City Arts Foundation. “We are grateful to the Tropicana team and invite businesses and individuals to join them in their support of ACAF's community arts programming in Atlantic City.”

The Atlantic City Arts Foundation works to create a community that values art and culture as a means to stimulate economic development, encourage civic engagement and promote community well-being. Consequently, ACAF developed three programs, Chalk About AC, ARTeriors and 48 Blocks AC, to activate community pride and civic self-esteem.

Chalk About AC is a city-wide chalking event that occurs annually and encourages the community to create positive, perception-changing chalk artwork in Atlantic City. ARTeriors, an immersive experience for both artists and visitors, invites local, regional and at least one emerging artist to transform a vacant space into a unique, site-specific pop-up art installation. ACAF partnered with Stockton University to create 48 Blocks AC, a celebration of arts and culture in Atlantic City. The program includes the city’s largest mural arts program spanning the 48 blocks of Atlantic City. Local, regional, and global artists are invited to design permanent murals that reflect their own artistic styles while enriching the city.

Tropicana Atlantic City has a history of supporting local artists. The casino resort commissioned local artists such as Susan Daly, who painted the iconic sky ceiling in The Quarter. In addition to externally supporting local artists, Tropicana has supported employees and their artistic endeavors. Tropicana’s Nightlife Manager, Valerie Feo, was granted the opportunity to showcase her artistic abilities in Planet Rose with custom murals, hand-painted border walls and custom wallpaper creating with vintage Rolling Stone, Interview, Spin and rock and roll magazines.

Most recently in 2019, the casino resort is offered its support to Little Rock Films + Studios, a local film and photography studio based in Ventnor, in the filming of the pilot episode of their upcoming series. Crew members and actors also occupied rooms in the Chelsea Tower while they filmed at multiple locations across the city.
