At Last … Gladys Knight’s Triumphant Return
to the Tropicana, August 8 & 9
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (July 23, 2008) –
By popular demand, renowned R&B hit maker Gladys Knight will return to the Tropicana Showroom for two glorious performances on August 8 and 9. Lifelong fans can celebrate Knight’s vocal journey through the decades while newer fans can come to appreciate the classic triumphs of one of the most unwaveringly stellar careers in music.
Groove to well-loved favorites such as “Midnight Train to Georgia,” “Heard It Through the Grapevine,” “Neither One Of Us (Wants to Be the First to Say Goodbye),” “I’ve Got to Use My Imagination” and a string of hits from her most recent albums One Voice (January 2005) and Before Me (October 2006).
Knight's 2001 record, At Last, won the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance, and in 2005, Knight won a Grammy for Best Gospel Performance for “Heaven Help Us All,” her duet with Ray Charles, taken from Charles’ album, Genius Loves Company. 2005 also brought Knight a Lifetime Achievement Award from the BET cable network. In 2006, Knight won her seventh Grammy award in the category of Best Gospel Choir or Gospel Chorus for the "One Voice" CD with the Saints Unified Voices.
In addition to Knight’s illustrious music career, she has been seen in numerous films, including “Hollywood Homicide,” “An Enemy Among Us,” and “Desperado.” Knight also appeared on Broadway in “Smokey Joe’s Café” and off Broadway in “Madame Lily” and in numerous television appearances such as NBC’s “Las Vegas” and “30 Rock.”
