Juicy steaks meet smooth jazz with the Michael Pedicin Trio at Wellington’s

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (February 14, 2008) – Wellington’s, the popular steak and seafood restaurant located on the casino floor at The Tropicana Casino & Resort, has an exciting new addition to its menu. Dinner guests can now enjoy the soulful sounds of the Michael Pedicin Jazz Trio every Friday and Saturday from 8 p.m. until midnight.

The Michael Pedicin Jazz Trio consists of a piano, upright bass and the tenor jazz saxophone stylings of renowned artist Michael Pedicin. A consistent figure in contemporary instrumental music, Michael Pedicin has always maintained his devotion and commitment to his roots.

For those who don't yet know Pedicin, he began his career as a young saxophonist in Philadelphia, being mentioned in Downbeat Magazine as “the most exciting soloist in the entire three day jazz festival.” Following those early college years, Pedicin began a ten year stint with Gamble and Huff's Philadelphia International Records as a busy studio musician and touring saxophonist with The O'Jays, David Bowie, Lou Rawls, Stevie Wonder, MFSB, and many other acts that felt compelled to record at the famous Sigma Sound Studios.

This period of studio recording and touring brought Pedicin to a decision to stay off of the road for a while, so that he could be present while he and his wife, Sherry, were raising a family. They chose a move to Atlantic City, as it was fast becoming a good place for musicians and performers to find steady employment. Michael became the musical director at the Tropicana in 1984 and remained in that position, while still maintaining an active recording and touring schedule, until 1999.

As a tenor saxophonist, this veteran has a sound that is entirely his own, evolved through the grand tradition, and as organic and visceral as the horn can produce. Pedicin has now established a musical group that is powerfully focused upon creating exciting, uncompromising and utterly musical jazz in the purest tradition.

Virtuosity and straightforward musicality, total accessibility and adventurous exploration, splendid interplay with exciting solo excursions… Michael Pedicin and his trio are sure to make your next meal at Wellington’s a rare and special occasion.
